DJEMBE TECHNIQUE CLASS
Saturday mornings, 10-11:00 am
What is the Djembe technique class? Many of my students have told me for a long time that it would be great to have a class dedicated solely to tone and slap, so here it is!
Why would you take this class?
- Because you have been studying for quite a while and you are annoyed that your tone and slap are not as clear as you would like...
- Because you are just getting into this whole djembe thing and you want to start in earnest on the path of clear tone and slap...
- Because you want to have your chops pushed so that you can play whatever you want more freely...
DJEMBE/DOUNUN, MIXED-LEVEL
Saturday mornings, 11-12:20 pmThis class covers djembe and dounun. Expect to learn djembe parts, breaks, solo phrases, solo technique and all dounun parts to traditional village rhythms, songs and ballet arrangements.
All OTS classes are on-going in 8-week sessions. Sign up through the school by calling the above number. Days and times listed below are subject to change. For the latest schedule, get their catalogue.

Kids
Gallery 37
Taylor is currently teaching a djembe/dounun class for high school students through Chicago's Gallery 37 arts/job training program.
In teaching children and the mentally handicapped through special courses offered by the Chicago Park District, Evanston YMCA, and most recently Gallery 37, Taylor has witnessed how drumming expands learning and comprehension. It also builds character. Children acquire discipline, patience, focus, and the ability to cooperate.
The long-term positive effects that arise from teaching these essential skills are too compelling to neglect. To develop a West African drumming course for your primary, high school, or college class, contact Taylor directly at 708-763-8633.
